Welcome to Default. Before you start taking meetings, there are a few settings to get in place so your booking pages, availability, and notifications all behave the way you expect. This page walks through them in order, and most take about a minute each.
Everything here starts from the Dock, the app bar at the bottom of the screen. Open Settings (the gear icon) for steps 1 through 5, where your personal settings live under My Profile, and open the Scheduling app for step 6.

1. Complete your profile

Your profile holds the name and contact details Default shows on your booking pages and meeting invites. Open Settings from the Dock, then select Profile under My Profile. Fill in:
  • First name and Last name, under Personal Details.
  • Display name, the public name people see on booking pages and calendar invites, such as Alex from Default.
  • Job title, shown on some scheduling surfaces, such as Solutions Engineer.
  • Phone number, entered with your country code and a leading + and no spaces or dashes, for example +15551234567. Adding a number also turns on the SMS notification channel in step 5.
Your Email is read-only here, since it’s tied to your login. Select Save Changes when you’re done, and Default confirms with “Profile updated successfully.” Learn more in Profile, which also links to your personal integration mappings.

2. Set your availability

Availability controls when people can book you. Open Settings from the Dock, then select My Calendar under My Profile. Under Personal Preferences, set:
  • Pre-Meeting Buffer and Post-Meeting Buffer, the time blocked before and after each meeting so you can prepare and wrap up. Both default to 15 min.
  • Notice Period, the minimum lead time before a slot can be booked, which prevents last-minute bookings. The default is 1 hour.
Next to Work Hours in the same section, select Manage to set the days and times you’re bookable. Add a schedule, name it (such as Standard Hours), set your timezone, and toggle each day on or off with its time range, for example Monday through Friday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Mark one schedule as primary, since that’s the one used to generate your open times, then select Save Changes. Back on My Calendar, select Save Changes to keep your preferences. Learn more in My Calendar and Work Hours.

3. Connect your calendar

Connecting your calendar lets Default see when you’re free and write booked meetings onto your calendar. Every member connects their own calendar, so you don’t need admin access for this step. Open Settings from the Dock, then select Integrations under Workspace Settings. As a member, you land directly on your Calendar options.
1

Open your calendar provider

Select the Google Calendar or Outlook Calendar card.
2

Authorize the connection

Select Connect and approve the sign-in popup, granting calendar access.
3

Set it as your primary calendar

Back in My Calendar, under Calendars, choose this calendar as your Primary Calendar so new meetings write to the right place.
Full steps per provider: Google Calendar and Outlook Calendar.

4. Confirm your meeting location

Conferencing tools (Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams) are connected once for the whole workspace by an admin, so you don’t connect them yourself. What you do is choose the Location on each event you host. When you build an event in Scheduling, the Location setting offers your calendar’s default conferencing, Zoom, or in person. Your calendar’s default conferencing follows your calendar provider, so a connected Google Calendar can add a Google Meet link automatically. If the conferencing tool you need isn’t available as a location option, ask an admin to connect it under Settings → Integrations.

5. Choose your notifications

Decide which events Default tells you about, and where. Open Settings from the Dock, then select My Notifications under My Profile. The page opens on the In-App tab. Each channel has its own tab with a channel-level toggle at the top, and a set of per-type toggles below it:
  • In-App, delivered inside Default, available to everyone with no setup.
  • Slack, delivered as Slack messages. This needs your workspace’s Slack integration to be connected.
  • Mail, delivered by email to the address on your profile.
  • SMS, delivered as text messages. This channel turns on once your profile has a phone number, the one you added in step 1.
Turn on a channel, then turn on the notification types you want, such as Booked meeting, Cancelled meeting, Rescheduled meeting, or Record Assignment.
Your admin sets which channels and types are available for the whole workspace. You can opt out of anything, but you can’t turn on a channel your workspace has switched off.
Learn more in My Notifications, which covers every channel and type and how workspace defaults apply. Now create a link people can use to book time with you. Open the Scheduling app from the Dock, then select Events.
1

Create a Quick event

Select Create new event, enter an Event name, and choose Quick event, the event type where one member hosts. Any member can create a Quick event. Select Create new event again to open the editor.
2

Set the basics

In Event Details, set the Meeting duration, the Location, and an Event slug for the booking-page URL, such as intro-call. The event uses your work hours from step 2 unless you set custom hours.
3

Copy your link

From the Events list, select Copy link, then choose With event hosts to share the standard booking link. Send that link to anyone who needs to book with you.
Learn more in Events, which covers hosts, availability, booking-form questions, and reminders.
