# Out of Office

> Add date-range blocks to your calendar to mark time when you can't be booked.

Out of Office lets you block off date ranges when you're unavailable. Each block appears on
a calendar and prevents new meetings from being scheduled during that period. When you have
an active OOO block, **Vacation mode** (on the main My Calendar page) automatically pauses
new bookings for those dates.

<Note>
  Open **Settings** from the **Dock** (the app bar at the bottom of the screen), then select
  **My Calendar** under **My Profile**. On the My Calendar page, select **Manage** next to
  **Vacation mode** under **Personal Preferences**, or navigate directly to **My Calendar →
  Out of Office**.
</Note>

## The OOO calendar

The Out of Office page shows a full calendar with all your OOO blocks. You can switch between
**Month** and **Week** views using the toggle at the top right of the calendar. Use the **←**
and **→** buttons to move between months or weeks.

Two types of blocks appear on the calendar:

* **Manual blocks**: blocks you created directly in Default.
* **Calendar-synced blocks**: blocks sourced from your connected Google or Outlook calendar
  (marked with a provider indicator). These are read-only in Default; edit or delete them in
  your external calendar and they'll sync back.

## Add an OOO block

<Steps>
  <Step title="Select a date range on the calendar">
    Click and drag across the days you want to block. Default opens the **New OOO Event**
    dialog with your selected dates pre-filled.

    | **From** | The start date and time of the block. | Select a date using the date picker and choose a start time from the time dropdown. Time options are in 15-minute increments. |
    | **To** | The end date and time of the block. | Select a date and time the same way. The end must be after the start. |
  </Step>

  <Step title="Create the block">
    Select **Create OOO**. The block appears on the calendar immediately and Vacation mode
    activates for anyone trying to book you during that period.

    <Note>
      Creating an OOO block may make you ineligible for routing assignments during that
      window, depending on how your routing policies are configured.

## Edit or delete a block

Select any manual block on the calendar to open the **Edit OOO Event** dialog. You can
update the name, start date/time, or end date/time, then select **Save Changes**. To remove
the block, select **Delete**.

Calendar-synced blocks open in a read-only view labeled **Calendar OOO Event**. To change
or remove them, do so in your external calendar (Google Calendar or Outlook) and the update
will sync to Default.
